Unable to import Live Mail Contacts although permissions are granted and contacts exist

We have successfully created a Windows Live Mail App but are unable to import contacts. The directions provided appear no longer to be valid, though. For instance, the step 3 action to add an app beside the "Converged applications" was not available when creating the App. The permissions granted for the created App are the same as those granted to Simbunch for the Windows Live Mail when recommending the ParaInvite extension. No friends were presented in this case either.
