If it is OK with you I will test using the tree on your demo page once you have fixed the problem. Then, once that is shown to be OK apply whatever changes are required to my site.

Thanks for that. Much appeciated It appears to work OK on the example I gave you. I was a bit worried at first then I remembered to log out and clear the cache. Then try again.

Just a few questions so I understand the situation for the future....

Was this a general problem across all of the family trees or a specific one to those imported using gedcom files? Also, is your fix a general one or will it have to be applied on a tree by tree basis?

If you have to do something on a tree by tree basis I have a second tree that was created by importing from a gedcom file. So if this is the case I guess we might need to apply the same fix to the other tree.

Sorry. My fault for not explaining well enough. I will try to explain.

When you click on a link in the menu on the left of my site to view a family tree it displays the title, the option to edit/delete the tree, a Comments count and an option to change the style of the display.

Just below these items is a rectangular area where the family tree is display (when both viewing and editing).

What I would like to do is choose what part of the family tree is displayed in this rectangular area when the link is opened from a menu item on the left of my site.

It currently displays whatever part of the tree it fancies and I do not seem able to change what part of the tree is visible when a user first navigates to the tree display.

I would like to be able to choose what part of the tree gets displayed in the rectangular box when the tree is first viewed by clicking on a link in a menu.

Is this a better description of what I mean? show less

Maybe the import from the gedcom file has set some flags about existence of parents that are not in the tree? show less

OK. I have no plans to use the software long term. It is just the updated version of the software my wife used in 2008 to create the trees originally.

Although it has been useful using it to create reports so I can then edit the information on the family trees I am now creating with your product.

Just to explain a little further. The 3 little dots on the left that allows the user to change the order of fields do not appear for the 3 custom fields I have created.

When you move the mouse below the 3 little dots on the left of the standard fields the option of re-ordering the custom fields does not appear. show less
